How Long Do Testosterone Injections Take To Work

Reasons Why Testosterone May Not Be Working In Your Body

Testosterone with hCG – Does it Work?

Whenever we use hormones as medications it’s always helpful to consider the body as a template with which we should try to emulate.

For instance:

We know that men and women have different levels of testosterone circulating in their body – therefore it makes sense that dosing should be different between male and female.

We also know that testosterone levels differ among individuals within the same gender, so there really shouldn’t be a “one-size” fits all testosterone dose for ALL males or for ALL females.

In addition to these basics, we also know that there is variability in how individuals metabolize hormones, medications, and nutrients.

Some people are considered to be “fast metabolizers” which means that their livers can chew through medications and hormones faster than others.

This means that the amount of testosterone someone takes will be unique but also HOW they take it, meaning how they put it into their body.

With these basics under your belt, you can begin to understand some reasons why standard TRT may not work in certain individuals.

#1. Dosing

The first and most common reason that testosterone may not be working in your body is simply because of dosing.

You may not be taking enough testosterone.

Because there is no “standard” dosing this means that each person will need a slightly different amount.

Having said that we have to start somewhere when we start someone on Testosterone and unfortunately we don’t always get it right on the first try.

#3. Time

Important Reminders During Low Testosterone Treatment

Upon receiving treatment, you must remember that TRT is not an overnight process. You arent going to wake up the next morning with increased body mass and a high sex drive.

Moreso, its a gradual process that requires frequent care and attention. Instead of asking How long does testosterone take to work?, ask How is my body processing the treatment?.

As you see above, most changes occur around the 3-week mark. However, it may not be as noticeable at first.

Remember to stay patient and trust that your body is developing as it should through TRT. Raising your testosterone levels shouldnt be a race.

Also, its likely that treatment wont be a consistent growth. There will be days and periods when certain elements will start to plateau.

Its important to not get discouraged and to continue moving forward. Its completely normal for things to slight infrequency.

Lastly, you need to be in tune with your emotions and what your body is going through. Pay attention to how youre feeling and be weary if anything feels off .

You may have clicked How long does testosterone take to work and expected a direct answer. Unfortunately, this treatment will rely on the individuals body and their ability to care for it.

Dont be discouraged by this process. Trust that you are working with a physician who knows whats best!

Effect Of Testosterone: In Rare Cases Your Breasts May Enlarge

In all menwhether youre taking T or notsome testosterone is converted into the hormone estradiol, a form of estrogen. And in men who have more breast tissue by nature, the T they’re taking that’s naturally converted into estradiol could stimulate this breast tissue to grow.

This is called gynecomastia, says Dr. Morgentaler, and it’s relatively uncommonhe says he doesn’t even see one case a year.

If this does happen, though, your doctor will likely stop treatment for a month or two to allow your breast tissue to go back to normal, and then start you back up with T along with a drug that blocks the conversion of testosterone to estradiol.

Does Trt Affect Your Blood Pressure

How Long Does It Take for a Testosterone Shot to Kick In?

My doctor checks my vitals with every shot . They check my blood pressure, oxygen levels , temperature, and my weight.

I have never in my life had high blood pressure, and the TRT shots have not caused that to increase whatsoever.

However, TRT can increase estrogen levels and increased estradiol can cause high blood pressure. Luckily, my doctor with their regular checks prescribed Anastrozole to keep my estradiol levels from increasing. Increased estradiol levels will also slow or stop the benefits of the TRT in the first place.

Months After Starting Trt

At this point, the 3-week break for the prostate scare aside, Ive been doing TRT hormone therapy shots for almost 6 months. I started with 200mg shots which they eventually brought down to 140mg.

Now, after my most recent blood work , they upped the amount of testosterone to 160mg.

Here are my current numbers:

Testing for
2.00 6.09

So as you can see, so far my testosterone hormone levels have increased by 89% . But ideally, I would get my normal levels of testosterone up to around 800.

Estrogen levels have decreased by 60%, while my PSA levels have increased by 205%.

I will have follow-up checks with my urologist to keep an eye on my prostate and make sure my elevated numbers arent a sign of something more serious.

But for now, they do not appear to be.

Hrt For Patients With Testosterone Deficiency

Hormone replacement therapy is when a person receives artificial testosterone to help replenish his or her testosterone to a normal level.

Men can receive hormone replacement therapy for testosterone deficiency in a few different ways. For example, men can receive HRT orally, through injections, or through gels or patches applied to the skin.

So, back to the question, how long does a testosterone shot last? The answer is 2-3 weeks. This is much longer than the length of time any other form of testosterone therapy lasts. In fact, men that receive HRT orally or through patches or gels placed on their limbs must do so on a day-to-day basis. This means that testosterone shots provide men that suffer from testosterone deficiency with a solution to their health issues that last long enough for them to enjoy their lives.

What Happens When You Start Taking Testosterone

When you start taking a natural testosterone booster, what happens is the ingredients stimulate your body to produce more of its own testosterone. This is the most effective and safest way to increase testosterone levels because it is the only method that helps your body create more testosterone naturally rather than synthetically.

If you were to utilize TRT , the process changes dramatically. What happens is you have to visit your doctor either weekly or monthly for an injection, which is costly and time consuming, but theres a much bigger problem at hand with TRT.

The testosterone in use is synthetic, so what happens in this method is you are forcing a foreign, synthetic substance into your body as opposed to stimulating natural testosterone production from within the body. The body does not respond well to foreign substances, which is why TRT creates so many side effects.

When you use testosterone gel, you apply it directly to the skin daily and the testosterone is absorbed through the skin. Seems simple enough, right? Well, its actually a lot more complicated and problematic than it sounds. The testosterone in the gel is again synthetic, causing side effects, and the cherry on top is the gel can rub off onto your loved ones and give them side effects too.

How Long Does Testosterone Stay In Your System

According to studies, enanthate is the fastest acting T form out of the 3 esters. It leads to supraphysiological doses immediately after an injection.

The levels of testosterone remain elevated for 4-5 days which is the half-life of the medication. Then serum T levels slowly decline in the next 5-6 days. Since the medication is applied every 1-2 weeks, T levels may drop right before the next injection.

This can cause negative experiences due to hormonal fluctuations fatigue, mood swings, and low libido. Some amounts of enanthate can remain in your system for up to 3 weeks.

Testosterone undecanoate also increases serum T levels since the first day of therapy but stays in your system for much longer.

The levels of T remain stable for up to 45 days after injection and then slowly decline. Therefore, undecanoate can also provide quick management for your symptoms, with a lower risk for hormonal fluctuations. It should be injected every 10-12 weeks.

In terms of half-life, cypionate works as a middle ground between the other two esters. The levels remain at their peak for about 8-10 days and then decline slowly for another 10 days. Traces of cypionate can remain in your system for up to 6 weeks.

How Long Does it Take for Testosterone Injections to Work?

Millions of American men use a prescription testosterone injection or gel as forms of testosterone replacement therapy to restore normal levels of the manly hormone. The ongoing pharmaceutical marketing blitz promises that low T treatment can make men feel more alert, energetic, mentally sharp, and sexually functional. However, legitimate safety concerns linger. For example, some older men on testosterone replacement therapy could face higher cardiac risks.

“Because of the marketing, men have been flooded with information about the potential benefit of fixing low testosterone, but not with the potential costs,” says Dr. Carl Pallais, an endocrinologist and assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School. “Men should be much more mindful of the possible long-term complications.”

How Fast Does Testosterone Gel/cream Start To Work

We know that most are eager to see and feel positive changes, which is why the question when will I see results from testosterone? is the most frequently asked.

Those patients who choose not to use injections tend to opt for testosterone gel or cream. The timeline for the gel/cream to work is roughly the same as with the testosterone cypionate results timeline. The benefits may come a bit slower because, unlike testosterone injections where the entire dosage is readily absorbed into the bloodstream, there is no way of knowing exactly how much testosterone is absorbed through the skin.

The initial benefits of improved sex drive, better perception of quality of life, and reduced anxiety will most likely still occur during the first month just perhaps not to the same degree. Some men and women do feel the effects of testosterone quicker with the gel or cream. There is no way of knowing until the treatment is started. Each persons body processes the various forms of testosterone in a unique way.
