All too often when your thyroid labs come back low youre given a new prescription for a higher dose of medication. Sometimes this is indeed necessary, but there are many reasons why your T3 is low and it may have nothing to do with your dose of medication.

Iodine is found in a variety of foods, including fish, dairy, fruits and vegetables. Iodine has also been added to table salt, referred to as iodized salt, to ensure needs are met.

One change I made immediately once I found out about my thyroid problems was to stop taking iodine. In some cases, iodine can help people with hypothyroidism, but for the most part, people in the U.S. have sufficient levels of iodine to prevent thyroid disorders.
